3 Meals with 1 Main Dish: Tasty Ground Turkey Recipes

By Kelly · 2 Comments

Ground Turkey 3 Meals 1 Main

Welcome to Part Two of a delicious new recipe series … 3 Meals with 1 Main Dish!

Since one of the biggest challenges to maintaining a healthy whole food lifestyle is time, I’m sharing this helpful series featuring one of the easiest “Cook Once, Eat Twice or More!” strategies for saving time in the kitchen – batch cooking!

Batch cooking is simply making a large quantity of a particular food and using it to make multiple meals. Last week, we launched Part One of the series and discovered how to use slow cooker rotisserie chicken to make three delicious and healthy soups.

This week, we’re putting this awesome time-saving strategy to work again using ground turkey meat to create three simple healthy recipes.

Ground Turkey

One of the easiest uses for ground turkey is to simply add some taco seasoning to the meat and enjoy a delicious taco night.

However, rather than browning a pound of turkey for just one meal, it only takes a few minutes more to brown 4 to 5 pounds and freeze the rest for future quick-n-easy dinners like these simple healthy meals below. Taking a couple of extra minutes to brown a double or triple portion of ground meat means less cooking {and less dishes} to do later! Now that’s a win-win!

Savory Cottage Pie

Savory Cottage Pie – Comfort food in a bowl! This savory, hearty dish comes together easily (especially when you have precooked ground turkey and leftover mashed potatoes on hand).

Asian Style Lettuce Wraps

Asian Style Lettuce Wraps – This simple one-skillet meal is a flavorful whole food spin on Thai Lettuce Wraps. And with precooked ground turkey on hand, this dish comes together in less than 15 minutes. Talk about fast food!

Sweet Potato Chili

Slow Cooker Sweet Potato Chili – Just toss in precooked ground turkey with the rest of the ingredients and let your slow cooker do all of the work! The combination of a spicy, meaty tomato sauce paired with the subtle sweetness of creamy sweet potatoes and an assortment of veggies creates an absolutely incredible chili. Talk about a bowl full of healthy flavor!

Three cheers for three meals made with one main! Be sure to check out Part Three of the Series to learn how to create three delicious meals using slow cooker pulled pork. Yum!
