One of my favorite ministries is serving as the Meal Planning Contributor for The Better Mom, where I share my bi-weekly real food meal plans as a way to help inspire and encourage others. Each bi-weekly meal plan includes what’s on the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as links to more than 40 of the delicious real food recipes featured.
Why is this called “Meal Plan Monday,” when it’s posted on Saturday?
I thought it would be nice to give you the heads-up about what’s on the menu for the week ahead. That way, you have time to take advantage of incorporating some (or all) of the meals featured, if you’d like. Remember: To view the recipe links for each of the meal plans below, please pop on over to The Better Mom.
So … without further ado … here’s what’s on the menu for the next two weeks at
The Nourishing Home. Remember – you can find each of the recipe links over at
The Better Mom.
P.S. I’ve provided free links, so you can download the new Meal Plan Template for your own personal use.

Kelly,
How do you organize your vast array of recipes? In a notebook? Computer files? Recipe card box? I love recipes and have several cookbooks and am availing myself more and more of recipes from the internet (i.e. your website!) and can’t seem to come up with a good way to organize everything.
If you have any time to share your thoughts on this, I’m sure your reading audience would greatly benefit.

Hi, Karen! Great question and one that will definitely be super different for each person. I personally use my computer to store my favorite personal recipes, I have a notebook with page protectors that I put recipes from magazines in that I am wanting to try and as far as cookbooks, I usually use those post-it tabs to mark recipes I want to try out. In addition, I use a private board on Pinterest to store recipes I want to try or tweak – maybe they have unhealthy ingredients but I like the concept and want to tweak them to be real food based.
So … once I try a new recipe, it goes into my computer. I type it out the way I made it and store it in a special folder on my computer and I add the recipe to my Master List of Meals, which is what I use to create my meal plans, you can learn more about that here:
This also helps me with posting new recipes, because I can then transfer these new recipes that I’ve created or revised into a blog post to share.
But there are great online systems like ZipList that you can use to create a free recipe box and store all of your recipes from various websites in there. Here’s a link incase you want to check it out:

As you can see, there are just a ton of options. I think the hardest part is not how to organize the recipes you already love and make regularly, since those can easily be written out on a recipe card or typed up and stored online. To me, it seems like the hardest part is trying to be organized with all the recipes you haven’t tried yet – that can definitely be challenging since there are so many different places we find recipes we want to try. So far, I haven’t found one way to store them all conveniently (online, magazine and cookbooks). But would be open to others’ ideas too!
Lots of blessings, Kelly

Thank you so much for your thorough answer! You’ve given me some good ideas. This was helpful. I definitely need to do a major overhaul of our favorite recipes and type them onto my computer. One idea for your dilemma as to what to do with the recipes you haven’t tried yet: use file folders and label them according to your different types of foods: breakfast; chicken dishes, quick breads, etc. As you collect recipes that are printed, drop them in the file. You can also have a running list inside each folder to reference recipes found in other places: cookbooks (include the name & page number); websites, etc.

Great idea! I think I could also just print out recipes from the internet I want to try right away and keep the rest on my pinterest board! Appreciate the idea! We can all learn from one another! Lots of blessings, Kelly 🙂
